、 B.Different Fates for Different People C.The Shootings of Three Presidents D.The Sad Life of Robert Todd Lincoln B WASHINGTON-School lunches have been called many things, but a group of retired military officers is giving them a new label: national security threat.

、 Thats not a reference to the mystery meat served up in the cafeteria line either. The retired officers are saying that school lunches have helped make the nations young people so fat that fewer of them can meet the militarys physical fitness standards, and recruitment will be difficult. A new r

aim…at…;pay…to…;concentrate…on… dream of +doing;與there be句型結(jié)構(gòu)連用為dream of there being。 4.D 考查used to 和be used to 的區(qū)別。 used to表示“過去經(jīng)常(現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)不了)”;get/be used to表示“習(xí)慣于……”。 come upon=come across 意為“偶然遇到”;come in意為“進(jìn)來,參與”;come out意為“出

、現(xiàn),出版”;come up意為“破土而出”。 add to表示“增加”;lead to 表示“導(dǎo)致,通向”;turn out表示“結(jié)果是”;make up表示“編造,構(gòu)成”。 referred to 與in屬不同的意群。referred to為過去分詞短語作定語修飾clerk,相當(dāng)于who was referred to。

Making all the reservations and connections is a nightmare for me可知既然是噩夢,那么作者就是一個(gè)容易緊張的人。 14.B 15.C sacrifice…for固

、e/get familiar with。 29.B 30.D Ⅲ.A 31.C 由第一段的“A subordinate took the same pistol from Clives hand and fired it six times in succession.” 由最后一段的最后一句話“…Robert Todd Lincoln was the only man who was on the scene im

、mediately after all the shootings.” 結(jié)合全文可以看出Clive從槍口中獲生,且由開篇的“The manner in which fate saved Clive of India for his mission in history is a matter of record.”

根據(jù)下段“When over a quarter of young adults are too fat to fight, we need to take notice”,可以看出obesity的含義應(yīng)該是“肥胖”。 根據(jù)第七段中的“…many recruits were rejected because of stunted growth and inadequate nutrition.” 可知選A。 7
