1、 Module 9 Heroes 一、教學目標 　　本模塊的中心話題是英雄，內容涉及科技、歷史、娛樂等領域中的英雄人物可以培養(yǎng)同學們學習英語、勤奮努力、做國家棟梁的情感素質。語言知識方面要求大家： 1．能夠正確使用下列單詞和詞組：avoid, brave, excuse, thought, rewrite, army, Canada, Canadian, medical, treat, treatment, Dr(=doctor), war, invent, tool, operate, operation; come up, so that, on one’s own, give

2、one’s life to, in the end, take care of, stop to do sth., continue doing sth., in spite of, both…and, in order to, thousands of等。 2．語法：掌握由so, so that和because引導的狀語從句。 二、重難點知識講解 1．But the last piece is coming up. I’m looking forward to this! 但是最后一首曲子馬上就要開始了。我期待著(聽這首曲子)! （1）come up表示“發(fā)生，出現(xiàn)”。 e.g.

3、I’ll let you know if anything comes up. 一有事發(fā)生我就通知你。 I’m afraid something urgent has come up; I won’t be able to see you tonight. 很抱歉，有點兒急事，今晚不能見你了。 （2）“l(fā)ook forward to＋名詞/代詞/doing”的意思是“期待/盼望……”。 e.g.I’m really looking forward to our holiday.我真心盼望著我們假期的到來。 They’re looking forward to seeing the

4、film.他們期待著看這個電影。 2．… So that Kylie could play this piece of music on her own. ……這樣凱麗就可以獨自演奏這首曲子了。 （1）so that可以引導一個狀語從句，表目的，意思是“為的是……；目的是……”。so that引導的目的狀語從句中常常用到一些情態(tài)動詞，如“can, could, will, may”等等。 e.g.I got up early so that I could catch the first bus.為了能趕上頭班車，我很早就起床了。 You should work harder so

5、 that you can pass the exam next time. 為了下次能夠通過考試，你應該更加努力學習。 so that連接的是帶目的狀語從句的復合句。我們也可以用簡單句來改寫這種復合句，這里用一個介詞短語“in order to”。 e.g.I get up early so that I can catch the early bus.我起床早以便能趕上早班公共汽車。 1 / 11 =I get up early in order to catch the early bus. so…that意為“如此……以致”，引導結果狀語從句。so后接形容詞或副詞原形。

6、 e.g.He runs so fast that nobody can catch up with him. 他跑得如此之快，以致沒有人追得上他。 They study so hard that they are the best in the class. 他們學習如此努力，以致他們的成績是班上最好的。 The problem so difficult that nobody can work it out in my class. 這么題目這么難以致于我們班沒人會做。 （2）on one’s own表示“獨立地，單獨地；獨自地”。 e.g.I made this book

7、shelf all on my own.這個書架是我自己做的。 She’s been living on her own for ten years.她獨自生活已有10年了。 3．They’re standing up because they’re both going to play. 兩個人都站起來，因為兩個人都要演奏。 because conj.因為。because作為從屬連詞，用以引導原因狀語從句時，其后應是一個不含有引導詞的句子。 e.g.I do it because I like it. 我做這件事是因為我喜歡。 I am late because the tra

8、ffic is too bad. 因為交通阻塞今天我遲到了。 because從句通常用來說明一個直接的原因，引導一個原因狀語從句，這時主從句可改成由so連接的并列句。 e.g.I can’ go with you today because I’m too busy. ＝I’m too busy today, so I can’t go with you. 今天我不能跟你一塊去，因為我太忙了。 We all like the little girl because she’s very beautiful and clever. =The little girl is very

9、 beautiful and clever, so we all like her. 我們都喜歡那個小女孩，因為她非常漂亮，聰明。 注意：漢語中可以說“因為……所以……”，但英語中如用了because就不能再用so，用了so就不能再用because。 拓展：because of是介詞，其后接名詞、代詞或動名詞。 She cried because of what you said.她哭是因為你說的話。 I am late because of the bad traffic.因為交通阻塞今天我遲到了。 4．I imagined that she did it so that Kyl

10、ie could avoid problems with her parents. 我想她這么做是為了避免凱麗和她的父母之間產生矛盾。 （1）imagine vt. 想象，設想，猜想，料想 ①imagine + n./ pron. e.g.You can not imagine their surprise at hearing the news. 你不能想象聽了這消息他們多么驚訝。 ②imagine + doing sth. e.g.Can you imagine living without electricity? 你能想象沒有電的生活嗎? Mary can

11、’t imagine (her) marrying a man of that sort 瑪麗難以想象(她)嫁給那種男人后的情形。 ③imagine +從句 e.g.You can’t imagine how I missed you all.你不能想象我多么想念你們大家。 （2）avoid vt. 避免；消除；逃避（后接名詞或動名詞，也就是-ing形式） e.g.Are you trying to avoid me? 你是不是想躲開我？ She avoids making me feel stupid.她避免使我感到傻乎乎的。 He walked round the hous

12、e to avoid meeting me.他繞過房子避開我。 5．And I bet Sally wins, because she’s the real hero tonight! 我打賭薩莉會獲勝，因為她才是今晚真正的英雄！ I bet.表示“我敢肯定；我相信?！? e.g.I bet you’ll never guess who I saw this morning. I bet that he’s forgotten my birthday again. You bet.表示“的確；當然?！? e.g.—Are you coming to the party? 你會來參加晚

13、會嗎？ —You bet (=Certainly)! 當然會！ 6．He gave his life to helping the Chinese people. 他獻身于幫助中國人民。 give one’s life to sth. /doing表示“捐軀，獻身”。 e.g.He gave his life to saving the rare wild animals. 他獻身于挽救珍稀野生動物。 A lot of heroes gave their lives to their country.許多英雄為他們的祖國獻出生命。 7．He worked hard so that

14、he could save thousands of people’s lives. 為了能挽救許許多多的生命，他努力地工作。 （1）thousands of 成千上萬的（thousands 前不加具體的數(shù)目，是個概數(shù)。） e.g.Thousands of workers took part in the strike. 成千上萬的工人參加了罷工。 There are thousands of students in our school. 我們學校有成千上萬的學生。 類似用法：hundreds of, millions of, dozens of等。 基數(shù)詞作定語用時，一律不用復

15、數(shù)形式。 e.g.There are two thousand workers in the car factory. 這家汽車工廠有2, 000多人。(不說two thousands workers) （2）save one’s life表示“挽救某人的生命”。 e.g.The man jumped into the river and saved the boy’s life. 那個人跳進河中，救了男孩兒一命。 Thanks for helping me with my car—you saved my life. 謝謝你幫我修車，真是救了我一命。(這里是比喻用法)

16、 8．Once he performed operations for 69 hours without stopping and saved 112 people. 有一次，他連續(xù)做了69個小時的手術，挽救了112個人。 without在該句中為介詞，意思是“沒……”，后面如果接動詞，動詞則要用-ing形式。 e.g.The girl left the party without saying goodbye.女孩兒沒有道別就離開了晚會。 You shouldn’t drive for more than three hours without taking a break. 你
