It learns the name you give it and can answer when you call it. It develops its own personality
5、. It can learn about 50 commands.V: (reading) Furby like being patted. At first he speaks his own language, then he gradually switches to English the more time you spend with it. 6、these ones, though. (reading) Paro can open and close its eyes and move its flippers. Tama recognises her own name. She purrs when shes patted. That shows shes happy, but if you hit her shell give you an angry hiss. Gradually her behaviour changes and she develops her own personality. PART 2A: I don
7、t understand the point of a robot pet. Why wouldnt you get a real one?J: Well, you dont have to feed a robot dog or take it for walks. And they dont bark or bite!V: And it wouldnt make your house dirty! A: Yeah but its not a real pet, is it? Its a toy.V: Well, Amanda, I must say Aibo and Furby look
8、like real animals.J: I dont think it matters if the robot looks like a real pet or not. If someone thinks of the robot as a pet, then it is a pet.A: But Jamie, dont you think its sad if the person thinks of the robot as a real pet?J: No, I dont think so, not if he gets enjoyment from it.A: Well, I d
9、ont believe a robot can be a true friend even if it does develop its won personality. I mean stroking a dog or cat makes you feel good because youre making it happy. She cannot go out with other children because of her poor health. So her parents bought me as her companion.
12、There are different types of robot pets in the store. Her mom preferred the seal-type robot, while her dad thought the lovely dog would be a good companion. But Susan loves kitty very much. She insisted on having me as her companion. So they chose me. The shop assistant told them I have more than ju
13、st entertainment value, offering companionship and a variety of other services to the sick. A network system will enable me to speak to the children in natural way, especially to children who are sick, and this will make them more comfortable. I can be connected via cell phone or ISDN line to a netw
14、ork system center, allowing health workers or parents to send medical information and encouraging messages to the sick. Im endowed with 100 phrases, ranging from the light-hearted (“Today is the karaoke party. Lets sing a lot.”) to more practical information (“It is three oclock. It is time to have medicine.”). Susan smiled a lot and her parents said she had never spent a happier day. I am happy too because Ive brought pleasure to her.
