111 The Seventh Period The General Idea of This Period In cultural corner, we’ll know that different countries have different schools and that in different schools the relations between the teachers and the students are different. In Task part, the Ss are required to set criteria for a good teacher. The Module File summarizes the important part in this module, that is vocabulary, grammar, function, and everyday English. Teaching Aim To improve the Ss’ abilities in listening speaking and writing. Teaching Important Point To improve the Ss’ abilities in reading and writing. Teaching Aids 1. a projector 2. a computer Teaching Methods 1. Pair work and group work to get every student to take part in the activities. 2. Discussion. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Greetings T: Hello, boys and girls. S: Good morning, Miss Li. T: Sit down, please. In this period, we’re going to study the Module File and finish off all the other exercises. Step 2 Reading T: Hello, boys and girls. In this period, we are going to deal with the Cultural Corner, Task and Module file. Now, let’s read the passage and answer the questions. (While the Ss read the passage, the teacher write the two questions on the Bb.) 1 .What kind of differences in schools does this passage describe? 2. What’s the relationship between students and teachers in China? Read the passage and answer these questions. Read through the questions then ask the students to read the passage and answer the questions individually. Put them in pairs to check their answers. Call back the answers from the class. Step 3 Task T: Now boys and girls, you are to set criteria for a good teacher. Who’ll try? Li Lei: Let me try. A good teacher should be energetic and amusing. Wu Dong: A teacher whose lessons are always interesting and lively is a good teacher. ... You are excellent. Well, work in pairs. Think of three or four teachers who you think are excellent and explain why. Make notes. 1. First discuss, then write down their opinions. 2. Write ten criteria for a good teacher. Explain why you think these things are important. Example 1: A good teacher enjoys teaching. This is important because students usually enjoy a lesson if their teacher enjoys his lesson. Example 2: A good teacher is a teacher who is kind, patient and helpful. This kind of teacher is patient enough to explain the questions clearly. ... Step 4 Module File This section lists the main areas of language dealt with in this module. You may want to use it for repetition,and pronunciation revision,or you may want to give the students ten minutes to go through it,ticking the things they are confident they know,putting a question mark next to those things they are not sure of, and a cross next to those they don’t know. This should then be the basis of their own revision of the module. 1.
