Tests on healthy volunteers found that they were more likely to feel a sense of fear at the moment when their hearts are contracting(收縮) and pumping(向---送出) blood around their bodies, compared with the point when the heartbeat is relaxed. Scientists say the results suggest that the heart is able to influence how the brain responds to a fearful event, depending on which point it is at in its regular cycle of contraction and relaxation. Sarah Garfinkel at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School said: "Our study shows for the first time that the way in which we deal with fear is different depending on when we see fearful pictures in relation to our heart." The study tested 20 healthy volunteers on their reactions to fear as they were shown pictures of fearful faces. Dr Garfinkel said, "The study showed that fearful faces are better noticed when the heart is pumping than when it is relaxed. So our hearts can also affect what we see and what we dont see - and guide whether we see fear." To further understand this relationship, the scientists also used a brain scanner(掃描儀) to show how the brain influences the way the heart changes a persons feeling of fear. "We have found an importantmechanismby which the heart and brain ‘speak’ to each other to change our feelings and reduce fear," Dr Garfinkel said. "We hope that by increasing our understanding about how fear is dealt with and ways that it could be reduced, we may be able to develop more successful treatments for anxiety disorders, and also for those for those who may be suffering from serious stress disorder." 26 . What is the finding of the study? A.fear has something to do with ones health. B.fear is a result of ones relaxed heartbeat. C.Ones heart affects how he feels fear. D.One’s fast heartbeats are likely to cause fear. 27 . When are people more likely to feel a sense of fear ? A.When the heartbeat is relaxed. B.When their hearts are contracting. C.When people are tired. D.When people are happy. 28 . The study was carried out by analyzing (分析)_______. A.the time volunteers saw fearful pictures and their health conditions B.volunteers heartbeats when they saw terrible pictures C.volunteers reactions to horrible pictures and data form their brain scans D.different pictures shown to volunteers and their heart-brain communication 29 . He was born in London, England in 1955.When he was a small boy, Tim was interested in playing with electrical things. He studied science at Oxford University. He made his first computer from an old television at the age of 21. Tim started working on early computers. At that time, they were much bigger than now.He worked in England then Switzerland.Tim was really interested in two things, computers and how the brain works. How could the brain connect so many facts so quickly? Tim BernersLee doesnt think he did anything special. He says that all of the ideas about the Internet were already there. All he did was to put them together. He says that many other people worked together to make the Internet what it is today. But in fact, almost everyone can invent. It’s just that they do not realize that their idea could be the start of an invention. Once inventors see their ideas have some practical value, they don’t let them run away. For example, the inventors of the dishwasher, American Josephine Cochrane, loved to give dinner parties. But she found it took too long to wash her dishes by hand. She decided that a machine could do the job faster. So, in 1886, she began to make one for herself. Here are the steps to create inventions. The first and most important step is to find the problem. Start by looking at what is wrong with things you see now and ask people around if they remember ever saying, “I wish someone would invent something for...” Then you might notice situations(情況) or things in need of improvement. The next step is to think about possible solutions. An invention is a new way of solving a problem. So think of many and unusual ways. You can often come up with a solution to a problem by looking at it from a different side. The hardest part of inventing is coming up with a problem and finding a solution. Once you have an idea, you can always get help building your invention. This problem-solving technique can also work in your everyday lives. So, why not try it in your studies, in your relationship with others, or even in the way you look at the world? 1題為完成句子;2題用英語表達(dá)文中畫線單詞one所指代的內(nèi)容;3題找出并寫下 第三段的主題句;4題為簡略回答問題;5題為將文中畫線句子譯成漢語。 53 .
