Ask the students to recite the new words from biochemistry to quality. Step2 Learn the reading and explain some language points. 1. What can happen to furniture when a house is destroyed by tornado? (1) happen ① 發(fā)生 e.g.The accident happened on Tuesday morning.這場事故發(fā)生在周二早晨。 ② happen to e.g.A funny thing happened to me on my way home last night.昨天晚上我回家的路上發(fā)生了一件有趣的事情。 ③ happen to do sth. e.g.I happened to be out when he called. 他來訪時我剛好出去了。 It happened to be raining when I arrived in London.我到達倫敦時,碰巧在下雨。 ④ 在It (so) happened that…句型中,that引導的從句時真正的主語。同時,此種復合句可以和簡單句互換。 e.g. It (so) happened that I had no money with me.=I happened to have no money with me.我碰巧身上沒帶錢。 (2)furniture 為不可數(shù)名詞,表示一件家具要說 a piece of furniture (3)destroy v. (destroyed, destroyed) 破壞;粉碎 destruction n.毀壞 區(qū)別:destroy,damage,harm,hurt,injure與wound ① Destroy 毀滅,消滅,指通過某種有力的或粗暴的手段使之毀滅或無用,一般不能或很難修復,有時可用于比喻意義。 ② Damage傷害,損害,主要指對價值和功能的破壞,多用于無生命的東西,一般可修復。 ③ harm傷害,損害,主要用于有生命的東西。常指傷及一個人或其健康、權利、事業(yè)等。 ④ hurt指精神上或肉體上的“創(chuàng)傷、傷害”。做不及物動詞意思是“疼”,其過去分詞不能做定語。 ⑤ injure指意外傷害事故造成的傷害,有危及功能發(fā)展之意。 ⑥ wound一般指刀傷、槍傷等戰(zhàn)場上受的傷,也可指對感情的傷害,后跟賓語指整個人而不是受傷的部位。 2. pick up (1) 拾起,拿起,卷起,掀起 e.g. She picked up a wallet. (2) 整理 e.g. Mike has made some effort to pick up the apartment.邁克賣力整理房間。 (3) 開車接某人 e.g. My husband will pick you up in the car.我丈夫開車區(qū)接你。 (4) 無意中學會 e.g. I just pick up Greek when I lived in Greece.我在希臘居住時學會了希臘語。 (5) 收到廣播、電視節(jié)目 e.g. I managed to pick up an American news broadcast.我設法接收到了美國新聞廣播。 3.take off (1)脫掉,去掉,卸妝 e.g. I forgot to take off my make-up last night.昨天晚上我忘記卸妝了。 (2)起飛 (3)歇班 e.g. I’m taking Thursday off to do some Christmas shopping.我周四歇班為圣誕節(jié)購物。 4.on average=on an/the average平均 e.g. How many classes do you have every day on average?你平均每天上幾節(jié)課? Step3 Ask the students to read the reading aloud. Step4 Homework 1. Do the exercises 3 and 4on page 33in the workbook. 2. Read the reading aloud again. 3. Recite the language points and can use them freely. The teacher asks the students to read the new words and phrases aloud word by word.
