電能適宜于大量生產(chǎn)、集中管理、遠(yuǎn)距離運(yùn)輸和自動控制,比其他各種形式的能兩更有優(yōu)越性。人類對能量利用和控制的能力決定著社會的生產(chǎn)潛能, 從而又影響著人類生活方式的進(jìn)步。目前,全球每年電能的用量大約為10^4kW·h,并且還在以每年10億kw·h的速度增長。電機(jī)是將電能從最初的能源形式轉(zhuǎn)換過來的重要橋梁,又是再將大部分電能轉(zhuǎn)換為機(jī)械能的裝置。電機(jī)在電力工業(yè)、工礦企業(yè)、農(nóng)業(yè)、交通運(yùn)輸業(yè)、國防、科學(xué)文化及日常生活等方面都是十分重要的設(shè)備。在電力工業(yè)中,將機(jī)械能裝換為電能的發(fā)電機(jī)以及將電網(wǎng)電壓升高或降低的變壓器,都是電力系統(tǒng)中的關(guān)鍵設(shè)備。在很多地方都需要不同特性的電機(jī)來驅(qū)動和控制。隨著工業(yè)企業(yè)電氣化、自動化、電腦化的發(fā)展,還需要眾多的各種容量的精密控制電機(jī),作為整個自動控制系統(tǒng)中的重要元件。
